✈️ Your Flight Career Starts Here: Become a Licensed Pilot with the Collège d’Aéronautique

Are you dreaming of flying in the skies, commanding an aircraft, and building a career in aviation? At the Collège d’Aéronautique, we are proud to guide aspiring pilots through every step of their flight journey—from their very first flight to a professional aviation career. Our Flight Training Program in Canada is fully approved by Transport Canada, designed to prepare students for both national and international aviation opportunities.

🚀 A Clear Path to Becoming a Professional Pilot

At the Collège d’Aéronautique, students follow a well-defined, progressive training path that aligns with their professional goals. Whether your ambition is to become a private pilot or to command commercial airliners, our program offers all five key stages of pilot certification, including specialized ratings.

1. Student Pilot License (SPL): Your Takeoff Point

Your journey begins with the Student Pilot License (SPL). This license allows you to start flight training and fly under the supervision of an instructor. To obtain it in Canada, you must:

  • Be at least 14 years old

  • Demonstrate proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)

This is your first official step into the cockpit.

2. Private Pilot License (PPL): Fly Solo and with Passengers

The Private Pilot License (PPL) allows you to fly solo and carry passengers or cargo—without receiving compensation. It lays the foundation for further advanced licenses. Requirements include:

  • Minimum age: 17 years old

  • Hold a Category 3 Medical Certificate

  • Complete at least 45 hours of flight training, including:

    • 17 hours of dual instruction (with cross-country and instrument time)

    • 12 hours of solo flight (including a cross-country trip of 150+ nautical miles)

The PPL prepares you for recreational flying or further professional training.

3. Commercial Pilot License (CPL): Get Paid to Fly

Ready to fly professionally? The Commercial Pilot License (CPL) qualifies you to be paid as a professional pilot. At the Collège d’Aéronautique, we offer an industry-aligned CPL training program that meets Transport Canada requirements. You must:

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Hold a Category 1 Medical Certificate

  • Accumulate 200 total flight hours, including:

    • 100 hours as pilot-in-command (PIC)

    • 65 hours of commercial training with dual and solo flights

    • Night flying, cross-country routes, and instrument training

Graduates are qualified to work as corporate, charter, or bush pilots—and are fully prepared to pursue airline-level certification.

4. Instrument Rating (IR): Master All Weather Conditions

Our Instrument Rating prepares you to fly in challenging weather and low-visibility environments using only cockpit instruments. This rating is essential for career pilots and often integrated into CPL training at our college. It can also be completed as a stand-alone module.

5. Multi-Engine Rating (MER): Fly More Powerful Aircraft

Expand your capabilities by adding the Multi-Engine Rating (MER) to your license. This advanced rating allows you to fly larger, faster aircraft with multiple engines—opening the door to regional and commercial aviation operations.

6. Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL): The Final Step to Captaincy

The Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) is the highest level of pilot certification. With this license, you can operate as Captain of commercial airline flights. To qualify, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old

  • Hold a Category 1 Medical Certificate

  • Log 1,500 total flight hours, including:

    • 250 hours PIC (with cross-country and night experience)

    • 100 hours night flight

    • 75 hours of instrument time

At the Collège d’Aéronautique, we support ATPL candidates with advanced training, exam preparation, and career guidance.
